First  message from Mrs Carla Zarifeh, the newly elected president of the Lebanese Canadian Society of British Columbia. ( WLCU Vancouver Chapter).

Dear community members,

It is my honour and privilege to serve as the president of the Lebanese Canadian Society of BC for the upcoming two years. I am very excited for the opportunity to work with this board whose members bring a wealth of knowledge and experience which in turn is going to benefit the society.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the LCS of BC and with a very dedicated and passionate board of directors, I know we can achieve remarkable things.


Please mark your calendar with the following 2015 dates:


April 17–  “The untold stories of the Lebanese on board the Titanic”.  A Tribute to the 125 Lebanese who lost their lives on board the Titanic. (Vancouver Public Library)


May 9-   Installation of 2  commemorative benches (Queen Elizabeth Park across from Cedar Tree-Lebanese memorial)


June 21-   Annual members’ day picnic (Belcarra Regional Park)


July 18 & 19-  Surrey Fusion Festival (Holland Park-Surrey)


September 26-   Scholarship Night in association with WLCU-BC council


October 24-   Halloween party (Alan Emmott in Burnaby)


November 21 or 22-  Raising of the Lebanese Flag (Vancouver City Hall)


December 31-   New Year’s Eve Party


Lastly, on behalf of the board of directors, I would like to extend a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and mothers-to-be. Wishing you all the love and happiness you so richly deserve!
