On April 17th, 2015, the Lebanese Canadian Society of BC (WLCU-Vancouver Chapter) hosted an exceptional “TITANIC” evening at the Vancouver Public Library to mark the 103rd anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The event was a tribute to the untold story of the 125 Lebanese who lost their lives on board the Titanic.
It was an honour to have Dr. Josyann Abisaab whose interest in the Titanic was spurred by a personal family story.
Her presentation was fascinating, thorough, engaging and contained very detailed information and facts.
Dr. Josyann Abisaab is an emergency physician at New York Presbyterian Hospital and a member of the teaching faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. Born and raised in Beirut, she is a graduate of AUB (American University of Beirut) and the University of Rochester Medical School. She is a member of the International Lebanese Titanic Committee and the US-based Titanic International Society.
With over a 100 attendees, it sure made for a very successful event and the feedback was extremely positive. It was very refreshing to see attendees of a very wide age range. The presentation was certainly a hit with most! Following the presentation, the attendees enjoyed a reception as they continued to talk and discuss what they have just heard from the presentation.
A great big thank you goes out to Dr. Josyann Abisaab for sharing her knowledge and passion with our community.
Thank you to the following event sponsors who made this possible:
The International Lebanese Titanic Committee, and The World Lebanese Cultural Union –BC council
