Greetings from the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism to WLCU-BC council and SFU

Office of Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, MP
                                                                           Greeting from Honourable Jason Kenney
II am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to those attending the Khalil Gibran
Monument Dedication Celebration, hosted by the World Lebanese Cultural Union of British
Columbia and Simon Fraser University. On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, I
would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued contribution to a diverse
and multicultural Canada.
We also commemorate the 12Sth anniversary of the birth Khalil Gibran, internationally
renowned poet, philosopher and painter, who made profound contributions to many cultures for a number of generations. Just as Khalil Gibran made an inspiring impact on society, the Canadian-Lebanese community has long enriched the fabric of Canadian society with skills, knowledge and talent. These efforts continue to enrich the social, economic and political fabric of our country.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper once said that “Pluralism is the principle that binds our
diverse peoples together.” On occasions such as this, we are all given the opportunity to
share and appreciate the various traditions of our families, friends and neighbours.
Canada is a great pluralistic success story, but it is celebrations like these that help make that story even greater.
Thank you, and best wishes for a wonderful event.
The Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, MP
Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism
