Welcoming words by Mrs Carla Zarifeh, the President of the Lebanese Canadian Society of BC ( WLCU Vancouver Chapter) during the Titanic event in Vancouver.

Good evening everyone,

Thank you for joining us on this special night. IMG_2582I am very proud to say that our Lebanese Canadian Society of BC (WLCU-Vancouver Chapter) is the first in the Lebanese Diaspora to hold such a significant Titanic event.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the LCS of BC (WLCU-Vancouver Chapter).  We aim to hold memorable and meaningful events.

Exit brochures have been provided to you and on the back of the cards, you will see the schedule of events for 2015.

Coming up on Sunday June 7th, is another historic event.  Two benches will be installed at Queen Elizabeth Park facing the Cedar tree. Our hope is to create a “Lebanese Quarter” for future generations and others to enjoy. The commemorative benches are in honour of two past presidents. Mr Shawki Rashed of LCS of BC as well as CLCA-Victoria past president Mr. Najib Asfar.

We are also working on getting the youth together. They are the future of this society. An event is being organized for them on May 2nd, 2015 (19+yrs)

The society will be of greater success with the help and contribution of its members.

This year, we have a very strong and unified board of directors and we’d like to reach out to all the Lebanese community in the lower mainland to keep our culture alive.

Enjoy the presentation.

Carla Zarifeh

President

LCS of BC (WLCU-Vancouver Chapter)
