About JSMT:

The John Smith Memorial Trust is a UK charity, established in 1996, to provide a permanent memorial to the great British politician, John Smith. Through its Fellowship Programmes JSMT honours that memory by providing an opportunity for future leaders from the Middle East and CIS regions to explore issues related to good governance, rule of law and social justice. The Programme also encourages Fellows to reflect on the nature of leadership, explore common problems and share their experiences.

The Trust has been running since 1996 and now has an Alumni Network of over 300 Fellows in the CIS region. Since 2011, with the funding and support of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, JSMT has expanded its model to the Middle East. There are currently 49 Fellows across the region.
