BEIRUT: Former Lebanese Ambassador to the U.N. Fouad al-Turk died Tuesday in a Beirut hospital as a result of complications associated with a stroke he had a few days earlier. He was 80.


Before retiring, he served as director general at the Foreign Ministry and head of the Forum of Lebanese Ambassadors. He was also a poet and intellectual.


A funeral will be held for Turk Friday in his hometown of Zahle, east Lebanon.
