Boston Chapter, celebrated the Lebanese Independence Day and the 52nd Anniversary of the founding of the WLCU

The World Lebanese Cultural Union – Boston Chapter, celebrated the Lebanese Independence Day and the 52nd Anniversary of the founding of the WLCU.


Retired General John Abizaid was the Guest of Honor, also the area general McGuiness and Colonel Betts attended, and all religious, civic and political leaders, including the honorary consul of Lebanon Mr. Ibrahim Hanna.


The ceremony started with the American and Lebanese Anthems, then Mr. Michel Hajjar the M.C. presented Abe Tannous, WLCU President-Boston Chapter, who spoke about the role, the previous accomplishments and the future plans of the WLCU World-Wide.


In his speech G. John Abizaid talked about his experience as an American-Lebanese and how proud he is to be of a Lebanese descent.


Then the WLCU Boston Board presented to G. Abizaid a Recognition Award, the WLCU New York-New Jersey present to him the Lebanese emigrant Statue. The Boston Board received a proclamation from the Mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino a declaration that November 22nd is “Lebanon Day” in Boston, and another recognition from Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts.


And everyone enjoyed the rest of the evening with a delicious dinner and dancing with the singer Salah Kurdy and a group of professional musicians.
