We have the pleasure to announce that: Alain Ayache, member of the WLCU North America Regional Council, has been appointed on January 23rd 09 as Citizenship Judge in Montreal for a three-year full-time term By Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism in Canada. Prior to his appointment, Judge Ayache was a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Concordia University and the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM). He has been a speaker and moderator at conferences and academic seminars for universities and colleges as well as academic research centers and think tanks in Canada and the United States. He organized the first symposium on the Middle East at UQAM, beside his involvement in the World Lebanese Cultural Union. Citizenship judges are responsible for making decisions with regard to citizenship applications, presiding over citizenship ceremonies and administering the oath of citizenship to new citizens. In the name of the WLCU World Council, the World President Elie Hakme and the World Secretary General Georges Abi Raad, congratulate Judge Ayache for this distinguished achievement which is the fruit of several years of a brilliant hard work inside the Lebanese Diaspora in Canada which contributed greatly for the best relationship between our society and the authorities of this country considered for his hospitality towards the Lebanese.
