Hike of Hope is an initiative aiming to raise awareness within individuals to their personal social responsibility. 2010 took 5 Lebanese men to the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, for the benefit of Children Cancer Center of Lebanon.
While we were proud that we were able to contribute financially and raise USD 75,000.-, but were mostly so for the fact that we were able to deliver the message and communicate through a wide array of media activity that reached many people and helped increase awareness for both our cause and the organization we adopted. Hike of Hope 2012 will take us to new highs, Mount Elbrus, highest peak in Europe, in attempt to support and raise funds for the Lebanese Association of SOS Children’s Villages and above all promote the cause of fundraising itself.
SOS Children’s Villages Association is a worthy and noble cause to all of us. The association’s work and achievements in, not just in sheltering and upbringing these unfortunate children, but also in providing all this care and love and is simply awe inspiring. That is why we chose the Lebanese Association of SOS Children’s Villages; a not-for-profit association, as the sole beneficiary of our “Hike of Hope” 2012 endeavor.
Climbing Mount Elbrus is a daunting task that will have us endure vast variations in climate, harsh and severe weather/physical conditions, while coping with lower levels of oxygen at higher altitudes (approx 50% less) which can lead to acute altitude sickness as well as other pulmonary and cerebral conditions.
We do this hoping/knowing that this will bring more attention to the cause we are adopting and hopefully inspiring people undertake similar initiatives. For as important as the money we raise from this event, we believe that it is equally important, if not more, to promote fundraising initiatives that will help create a more sustainable income stream for institutions that help and ensure a better quality of life for our society.
We seek your support to our initiative by donating directly to the Lebanese Association of SOS Children’s Villages; through our Hike of Hope campaign.
