Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal in cooperation with the Central Bank of Lebanon, the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL) and the Federation of Lebanese Chambers are organizing the 2nd Emigrants Economic Conference (EEC 2016) on the 14th of July 2016 at Movenpick Hotel in Beirut.
The Conference will be held under the patronage of Lebanon’s Speaker of Parliament H.E. Mr. Nabih Berri and with the support of the President of the Council of Ministers in Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Tamam Salam and in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Emigrants.
EEC 2016 will be attended by ministers, officials and leaders of banking, business and investment institutions operating in Lebanon and abroad in addition to a large number of Lebanese emigrants from around the world.
The main topics to be tackled during the Conference include:
- Lebanese Emigration and the Political and Economical Challenges
- Emigrants Success Stories
- The Intrinsic Role of Emigrants in supporting Economic Development and Investment in Lebanon
- The Role of Banks in Diaspora
The Conference will build on the efforts aimed at emigrants’ issues which started with the first edition of the conference last December 2015 in Beirut.
Emigration has become one of the most important elements of stability for the Lebanese economy and the economies of many Arab countries. Remittances to Lebanon have been estimated to be around 7 to 8 billion dollars, while Egypt received around $19.6 billion and the Maghreb countries about $ 6.9 billion during 2014.
Moreover, Lebanese and Arab Expats, especially in the African countries and in the Gulf, form a crucial network that is playing a major role in promoting investments and exports between Arab and expatriate countries.
