On Saturday November 22nd, 2014 the Lebanese flag was raised at City Hall as a tribute to the Lebanese army.

The Lebanese Canadian Society  of BC (WLCU Vancouver chapter) in collaboration with the WLCU BC Council are very proud of the event that took place at City Hall in Vancouver to celebrate the 71st Lebanese Independence Day.

With over 75 persons in attendance, proudly wearing the colours of the Lebanese flag, the atmosphere was vibrant and brimming with pride in anticipation of the raising of the flag.

Prior to the flag being raised, there was a moment of silence as a tribute to the Lebanese fallen soldiers.

The attendees all joined together and proudly sang the Lebanese national anthem as the flag was being raised followed by the Canadian national anthem.

It was great to see so many kids and youth, even though they may not have been born in Lebanon, come and be part of such a special event.

Everyone was treated to some Lebanese sweets and coffee. The kids enjoyed balloons and face painting.

All in all, it was a successful event which brought the Lebanese community together to celebrate a special day in Lebanese history.
