On May 10th, 2014, the Lebanese Canadian Society of BC hosted its annual Ladies Get-Together Lunch. With a great location overlooking the Riverway Golf Course in Burnaby, the ladies were sure to have an enjoyable afternoon.
This year’s lunch was slightly different from past years. It was a fundraising event with part of the proceeds of the ticket and raffle ticket sales going to support an organization. Since it was Mother’s Day weekend, the organization of choice was “the mothers of the Lebanese Association of SOS children’s villages”.
The attendees were surprised with a singing performance by a few of the LCS of BC young ladies (youth) who did an excellent job and their performance was certainly enjoyed and appreciated.
Following the entertainment, a short speech was presented by one of the Arabic language teachers of the Lebanese Learning Centre of Vancouver (LLCV) on the importance and benefits of preserving a language and maintaining one’s mother tongue especially with young children.
The ladies enjoyed the food, games, entertainment, speech and a flower upon departure. The event was a great success with 75 attendees and we are certain everyone is looking forward to future events held by the LCS of BC.
