Sponsored by the  LCS-BC, the Youth chapter held a Youth Party on May 2, 2014, in Burnaby. It was the first of what will likely become an annual event to help our youth generation congregate, socialize, and share ideas. Approximately 70 people attended the party and had the opportunity to enjoy Lebanese finger foods, refreshments and dancing. There was also pizza served from Alibaba Pizza, graciously donated by our very own George Murr.

Attendees varied from about 15 to 30 years of age, providing a diverse range of personalities. Old friends were reunited and new friends were made. Contact information was shared to promote future events and get-togethers. People gathered at round tables filled with laughter, later moving on to the dance floor where a professional DJ played music by request. Upbeat western music was followed by a few rounds of Dabkeh. The DJ also organized a hula-hoop game that served as an ice-breaker, bringing everyone together and getting to know one another. The party ran from 7:00pm to midnight, when everyone said their goodbyes.

Youth 2014

Thank you to all the attendees that came out to what was an eventful and entertaining night. Also, a special thanks to all of the volunteers that organized and helped during the party – we couldn’t have done it without you.

See you next year!
